Trev Tere has been volunteering as South Yorkshire’s Action Team Co-ordinator since 2008, after being treated for a malignant melanoma.
Trev feels that the least he can do is spare some time to help raise funds for continued research.
“The Action Team role suits my personal circumstances – i.e. wanting to volunteer but not being able to fully commit to a regular volunteering pattern.
"The action team brings the volunteering opportunities to me, rather than me having to keep checking the website for upcoming events.
“To date I have given out fliers promoting the Race for Life events, handed out Cancer Research UK information pamphlets, helped out with hundreds of other volunteers at Race for Life events and, more recently, collected money at Madness and Ronan Keating concerts.
“You really never know what the next event could be and how rewarding an experience it will ultimately offer. I have made many new friends and, most importantly, I have not stopped having fun since I signed up.”
