Marion has been volunteering in our shops since 2007. Having lost both parents to cancer, and with a friend currently fighting cancer, the work of Cancer Research UK is very important to her.
“My role involves sorting incoming stock, checking and tagging items ready to go out, steaming the garments, manning the till and helping to dress the window.
“Most Tuesdays (my volunteering session) have their own highlights and laughs with other volunteers and staff. Some of the customers are regular visitors and I have got to know them and what they are looking for. It is lovely to meet new people and share their ups and downs.
“We had a lovely celebration last year when we reached the two million pound profit mark and were the first shop to have done so.
“Volunteering in a shop is a wonderful way to meet new friends, and expand your social life while working to help scientists to conquer this disease.”
