Why we need you
To use your knowledge and enthusiasm for bric-a-brac and collectables to help run our busy homeware department.
What will I be doing?
- Sorting through household goods that have been donated, keeping an eye out for any unusual or valuable items.
- Pricing glassware, crockery and ornaments appropriately, taking into account the age, condition, collectability of items.
- Helping maintain a continuous supply of fresh items on our shelves.
- Arranging bric-a-brac into themed displays, for example, kitchenware and crockery.
What skills do I need?
- A keen interest in collectables, antiques and homeware.
- A knowledge of the value of collectables would be really helpful, as would previous experience in antique or second-hand shop work.
- The ability to work as part of a team.
How much time do I need to commit?
- You can agree your hours with your manager who will try to be as flexible as possible.
- Many of our volunteers contribute one or two 4-hour shifts a week.
What support will I be given?
- We will provide all the training you need to feel confident in the role.
- The shop manager will be available to advise and assist you as you work in the shop.
- There may also be other experienced volunteers in the team who will be available when you need help or want to ask a question.
