Before you plan your event, please take a few minutes to read our simple guide:

Simple risk assessments

Doing a simple risk assessment before your event will help you find out if there’s anything you need to do to prevent accidents happening.

It doesn’t need to be a complicated process – it might be as straightforward as, for example, making sure spillages are cleaned up promptly so people don’t slip.

It’s useful to remember that a hazard is anything that may cause harm (e.g. chemicals, electricity, working from ladders, an open drawer) and the risk is the chance, high or low, that somebody could be harmed by these hazards, together with an indication of how serious the harm could be.
