Tips to help you make the most of your fundraising
Whether you’re planning a tea party, a talent show or a triathlon, here are some top tips to help you raise more money while keeping your fundraising fun-filled and stress-free.
Plan your activity
Arranging your own fundraising activity needs some planning, but it doesn’t need to be daunting. Take a look at our guide to planning your activity.
Promote your activity
Once you’ve decided how, when and where you’re fundraising, it’s time to get the word out by promoting your activity.
Raise money online
Set up an online fundraising page – it’s the easiest way for friends and family to support you. The more effort you put into your page by adding a video, photos or a powerful message, the more people will want to support you.
Gift Aid it
Ask your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsor from. It allows us to claim at least 25p from the government for every £1 donated – so £10 becomes at least £12.50 at no extra cost to you or your sponsors.
Challenge your employer
Ask your employer to match the amount you raise in sponsorship for your personal challenge. Lots of companies participate in match giving and it could double your total raised.
Be confident
You don’t need to feel guilty about asking people to support you. Most people have been affected by cancer in some way and you’ll be giving them a chance to help. Your passion will be a reminder of what a brilliant cause Cancer Research UK is.
