...celebrate World Cancer Day – Saturday 4 February 2012
World Cancer Day marks 10 years of Cancer Research UK and over 100 years of our groundbreaking research.
Cancer Research UK was formed in 2002, following the merger of The Cancer Research Campaign and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund which was first established back in 1902.
Celebrate World Cancer Day with us by putting on your own fundraising event – take a look at our poster for ideas (PDF, 257 KB).
...hold a winter sale
Auction off those unwanted Christmas presents by holding a winter sale – take them down to your local car boot sale or simply ask colleagues and friends for donations.
...organise a Valentine’s ball
Organise a charity ball on or near Valentine’s Day and donate ticket sales to Cancer Research UK. You can make the most of this fundraising opportunity by holding fun competitions such as the best dressed couple, the best dancers or even the longest kiss!
...give up something for 2012
We all have good intentions at the start of the year whether it’s to give up smoking, losing a few pounds or simply taking on a new challenge, so why not get even more motivated and get sponsored for it too?
...host a movie night
It’s hard to beat the smell of fresh popcorn, a comfy spot to cuddle in and an entertaining movie! Fundraising with a movie night is as easy as turning the lights down and letting the movie credits roll.
...if it’s your birthday ask for a donation instead of gifts
Did you know you can ask friends and family to donate to Cancer Research UK instead of receiving a gift? Give in Celebration.
