The North Essex Fundraising Group
The North Essex Fundraising Group was formed when members of other fundraising committees in the area decided to get together to form their own group because they knew they would work well together and raise even more money for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
Their ambition is to hold a wide variety of new and exciting events aimed at people from all walks of life, encouraging everyone in the area to donate, whether it be 1p or £1,000. Their first fundraising event was a very successful wine tasting evening which raised over £1,300!
Working together to help beat cancer
The group all have families and busy lives, but were amazed at what can be achieved in just a few hours each month.
Group member Kate Richardson says “try to get a committee of people together who will work well together and respect each other’s opinions. Also arrange events that you will enjoy, it makes it much easier to devote the time."
Recruiting volunteers
“Volunteers who are not necessarily on a committee can help tremendously even if they just give a couple of hours occasionally," Kate says, "for instance we have a lady who will help out preparing and sending letters out ahead of events asking for raffle prizes.”
"The best thing about being in a fundraising group is working with like minded people to raise money for a cause which is close to all our hearts, and having fun doing it!”
A big thank you to all the members of the North Essex Fundraising Group. Keep up the good work!
