Busking Cancer

Busking Cancer

Across the UK musicians are taking to the streets and busking in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Whether it’s a solo performance or a gig involving many bands, Busking Cancer’s principle is simple. People enjoy playing music and having fun, so why not raise money at the same time?

The men behind Busking Cancer

Mark Warrick and Jamie Latty founded Busking Cancer in 2007 after Mark challenged himself to learn to play the guitar in a year.

Both were amazed when their first busking session on London’s South Bank resulted in a collection of £1,700.

Since then, Mark and Jamie have taken Busking Cancer nationwide, helping anyone in the UK take to the street and go busking.

In 2009 the campaign took a huge leap forward when Rod Stewart and Suggs decided to sign up and become patrons for the campaign. The year was an incredible success for Busking Cancer. With over 700 participants nationwide, they raised more than £65,000.

Raising funds to help beat cancer

Mark is passionate that anyone can get out there, enjoy themselves and raise money at the same time.

“The work that Cancer Research UK do is groundbreaking. They are taking huge strides towards understanding this terrible disease.

“I would always recommend that if anyone has a spare weekend or a cool idea for a new campaign – get out there, have fun and help us to make a difference!”
