Angus Fundraising GroupCelebrating a year of fundraising

The members of the Angus Fundraising Group are celebrating their first year of raising money together after reaching an incredible fundraising target of £10,000.

Community fundraising

Motivated by personal and family experiences of cancer they used their local knowledge and contacts to hold stalls at community fairs and ask for donations from local businesses.

The group quickly saw the value in spreading their membership widely. Having members in various small country towns and villages within a local area allowed them to create a larger supporter base and raise even more money for our life-saving work.

Raising money to help beat cancer

Their collections at the local theatre, supermarket and football matches have raised nearly £40,000 so far and a New Years day dip into freezing temperatures by local daredevils was such a huge success that they plan to make it an annual fixture.

The fundraising group chair, Alana Loudon says “we feel we have created a real presence for Cancer Research UK in our area, and enjoy making the most of the contacts we all have. We find that people are very generous, and we like to tell them how their money is making a difference to help beat cancer.”
