Chelsea Flower Show 2011

Cance Research UK garden at Chelsea Flower Show 2011

Cancer Research UK garden

Cancer Research UK unveiled its ninth garden at the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday 23 May 2011 subsequently winning the silver-gilt award. Designed by multi gold medal winner, Robert Myers, the theme of the garden is "Surviving" celebrating how our research helps to save thousands of lives.

About the garden

Garden designer, Robert Myers explores the theme of "Surviving" conceptually as a journey through life. When entering the garden, you start on a “barren seashore” before navigating your way to a safe, raised, sheltered space surrounded by lush planting.

The route to this “haven” is not direct, but involves different levels and changes of direction, which is representative of how people might experience different routes and treatments in their cancer experience. Learn more about Robert Myers work.

We would like to give thanks to the generosity of all the people who have helped to create the Cancer Research UK garden. Sponsorship of the garden was generously provided by a private donor.
