TK Maxx, the fashion retailer who offer 'designer labels for less' has supported Cancer Research UK since 2004, raising over £10 million for our life-saving work.
This huge sum has been raised through our unique bi-annual stock generation campaigns, till point donations, sale of merchandise, and end of line stock donation.
All funds raised by TK Maxx go into our joint Together for Kids Fund, which was created through our partnership in 2008 to help fund research into childhood cancers.
Our joint stock collection campaign, now named Give Up Clothes for Good is the UK's largest and longest running clothing and homeware collection.
During Give Up Clothes for Good 2010, we asked the nation to strip their wardrobes and cupboards as bare as they dared, to donate their unwanted quality items to help beat childhood cancers.
Supporters could drop off their items in over 200 TK Maxx and HomeSense stores where they were then donated to Cancer Research UK's high street shops to be sold. We were delighted to raise over £2.5 million in 2010 alone.
We are currently in the process of planning the next Give Up Clothes for Good campaign which will run from the 1st to 30th April 2012. We hope to again raise a staggering £2.5million so start clearing out your wardrobes ready to donate your quality unwanted items.
TK Maxx has shown even further support by working in partnership with Cancer Research UK to sponsor our Little Stars Awards and Party since 2008. The awards recognise the bravery of each and every child who is diagnosed with cancer and include hosting an annual party to salute the children's courage.
What we have achieved together so far
- Supported by celebrities and shoppers across the country, Give Up Clothes for Good in 2010 raised a staggering £2.5 million worth of donations to help beat children's cancer.
This amounts to over 112,000 bags of unwanted clothes and homeware.
- During the 2010 campaign TK Maxx associates also asked customers to donate £1 at the till, which raised a whopping £258,000 in just three weeks.
- Since 2008 over 800 children have received a Little Star Award as well as a TK Maxx gift voucher kindly donated by TK Maxx.
- In 2011, 20 Little Stars and their families acting as regional ambassadors for all the other Little Star Award winners, attended the Little Stars Party at London Zoo which was kindly sponsored by TK Maxx.
The children got to meet a whole host of celebrities including Stacey Solomon, Laura Hamilton and Cerrie Burnell as well as enjoy story time with Peppa Pig and a magic show by Safari Sam to make it a truly memorable day.
- Since 2008 TK Maxx has also sold Cancer Research UK Christmas cards - this festive initiative has raised over £45,000 to date.
- TK Maxx has also donated a staggering amount of end of line stock to our high street shops worth around £300,000.
- Seven dedicated TK Maxx associates took part in the Virgin London Marathon in 2011 raising over £22,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Thirteen associates have signed up to run in 2012, so we wish them the best of luck.
