"If you embrace all challenges and opportunities that come your way then you will flourish in the role!"

Katherine did her internship with the Booby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

Here is what she says about her time at Cancer Research UK:

Why Cancer Research UK?

"I have family and friends affected by cancer and Cancer Research UK has always been an organisation I have supported, for example by taking part in Race for Life and Run 10K."

Katherine Manley

"Having graduated from university, I was keen to be involved with the charity while gaining valuable experience in the charity and events sector.”

Main responsibilities

"I carried out a variety of different tasks from daily administrative duties to recruiting and briefing volunteers. I helped with the organisation of Bobby Moore Fund events such as the David Seaman Safe Hands Charity Golf Classic and The Thames Path Walk".

"I worked in a busy office, to tight deadlines which I believe has given me greater confidence in myself. The thing I enjoyed the most was feeling challenged on a daily basis and contributing to real projects."

Highlights of my internship

"I gained a lot of experience in event organisation and managing communications with Cancer Research UK’s corporate partners. I now have first-hand experience of the hard work and long hours that go into organising the charity’s events."

Tips for future interns

"You should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment on daily basis and maintain a committed approach. I believe that if you embrace all of the challenges and opportunities that come your way then you will flourish in the role!"
