Our charity shops play a huge role in raising money for our research and we always need high quality goods to sell.

We are looking for energetic volunteers to organise Donation Stations to encourage the people around them to donate items that we can sell in our shops.

What your bags can do

Cancer Research UK spent a record £333 million on ground-breaking research in the 2007/08 financial year. Virtually all of this money comes from individual donations so every bag you fill is crucial.

1 bag approximately = £30
This is how your bags could add up:

  • If you donate 15 bags they could be worth around £450 – enough to buy around 142,000 glass slides to study samples under a microscope.
  • If you donate 35 bags they could be worth £1,050 - enough to fund around two month's running expenses for a clinical trial investigating a new way of giving hormone therapy to improve the treatment of prostate cancer.
  • If you donate 100 bags they could be worth £3,000 –  enough to fund around 3 days' running expenses of our special unit in Glasgow where promising new drug discoveries are turned into tablets, capsules or injections for people with cancer.

Organising a Donation Station is simple

From local yoga classes to big corporations, Donation Stations can be set up anywhere that a group of people want to be involved – everyone's contribution will help beat cancer.

Just allocate a Donation Station collection point and ask everyone to bring in a bag of good quality items they no longer want.

We'll provide everything you need to run your Donation Station, including friendly advice by phone or email.
