Supporting our life-saving work

Rasmi volunteers in one of our central London scientific labs.

She says: "I volunteer as a lab assistant for Cancer Research UK in the protein and peptide chemistry lab. I have been weighing out amino acid powders into test tubes and cartridges for use on their automated synthesisers.

"In the past I have volunteered at schools and in hospitals were I met individuals suffering from cancer. From then on, I have wanted to help cancer sufferers.

"When browsing through the Cancer Research UK website I came across a volunteer role offered in one of the labs and thought that this was a good opportunity to help.

"My experience of volunteering has been great. The staff in the lab instantly made me feel welcome. I find it rewarding to know I am helping other people in my spare time, as the research carried out by the scientific staff is crucial and saves so many lives.

"I would recommend to others who may be considering volunteering to definitely give it a go!"
