Jim Dingwall Memorial Races

Falkirk Victoria Harriers decided to organise two races in aid of Cancer Research UK. They named them The First Jim Dingwall Memorial Races, in memory of Jim, a lifetime member of Falkirk Victoria Harriers, who sadly passed away from cancer the year before the run.

They held two races – one 5km and one 10km race – at Grangemouth Stadium, with £2 from every registration going to Cancer Research UK. The Harriers also sent packs to each person who registered before the day, including their running number and a sponsor form for the charity.

Andrew Stephenson, organiser from Falkirk Victoria Harriers, said, “It is fantastic that we are able hold these races in memory of Jim. All abilities were catered for and on the day there were about 950 people running in the two races.”

So far the races have raised over £5,000 and will now be an annual event for the Harriers and Cancer Research UK.
