Pedal power!
The duo, clearly gluttons for punishment, pedalled the porker from Gordon's home city of Glasgow to Richmond Park in south-west London over three weeks in July.
Gordon and Steve cycled on a tandem for around nine hours a day, clocking up an average of 40 miles a day. They followed a set route through more then 50 towns and cities and collected money along the way.
They hope to raise £60,000 to add to the £87,000 they have already raised through their marathon challenges.
Although they are fit as marathon runners, being porcine peddle-pushers was a whole new challenge. The blue carbon fibre pig weighs 35 kilos, and the chassis adds extra weight.
Gordon, 33, said: “The pig is built to last – we’ll crumble way before he does.”
They also encouraged local people and particularly children to dress as pigs, draw pig pictures and suggest names for the porker.
The men behind the Pig Pull
Steve and Gordon both work as IT managers for Accenture in London and both of their lives have been touched by cancer.
Gordon also has personal reasons for raising money for Cancer Research UK – he has lost many close friends and relatives and others are undergoing treatment.
He said: “Everyone is touched by cancer at some point so we all have a responsibility to do something to help. This is our way of doing it.”
