Start here for ideas
-
Hall party If you can squeeze one more party in, make it a themed hall party. Nuns and vicars, B-list celebrities, cartoon characters… you decide! Collect your fellow students’ donations on the door at your hall of residence, and let the socialising begin.
-
Battle of the Bands You’re an aspiring Jimi Hendrix, but your friends prefer a Coldplay tune. So battle it out in front of a discerning panel in the union bar – £15 per band, £5 a solo artist. Get yourself the exposure (you think) you deserve, while helping our vital research.
-
Sports challenge Your day is devoted to the worship of sport – either on the field or the big screen. Well how about everyone puts their money where their mouths are and enters a Triathlon, a Decathlon, a Dodecathlon!
-
Sports team challenge If you prefer some team camaraderie, get a charity tournament going – hockey, five-a-side football, you name it… Just make sure you collect those registration fees to help us beat cancer.
-
Stand-up comedy With razor-sharp wit to silence the hecklers, you’re up to speed on important issues ('Countdown' finalists 1996-98!). So make your friends and enemies chuckle at a stand-up competition. All you would-be Eddie Izzards can finally decide whether to find a day job, while supporting our vital research into cancer.
-
Story and poetry evening You have a tall tale to tell? Or perhaps some sonnets on lost innocence to recite. There’s surely some like-minded literati on campus – so come out of your digs to astound your peers! Pay a worthy £5 entrance fee, and compete with other scribes before a (sympathetic) judging panel.
-
Rag week collecting round town, buses and tubes. You don’t have to stay put! If you’re brimming with energy, jump on the local buses and tubes and shake those tins to help us beat cancer… It’s a great way to integrate with civvies, and get fit while you’re at it.
