Sound & Vision 2008

For one night only...

Once again the stars were out for Sound & Vision 2008 and helped us to raise £165,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Our celebration of all things rock and roll started with a VIP reception, and entertainment from the stunning Beverley Knight, who sang for guests including Al Murray, Bob Harris and Dave Lee Travis.

Auction with pieces of rock history

Abbey Road Studios was filled with 50 pieces of rock memorabilia including original artwork, classic album covers and iconic limited-edition photography for our guests to view and bid on.

Lots included portraits of Thom Yorke, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and John Lennon and original artwork from the likes of Editors, Magic Numbers and Beck.

Our live auction on the night raised over £66,000 with high profile guests bidding on lots including:

  • A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to recreate the iconic Smiths image outside Salford Lad's club with original photographer Stephen Wright
  • A Fender bass guitar signed by Sting
  • VIP gig tickets to see The Police
  • The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Hors Commerce signed by Sir Peter Blake and dedicated to our lucky winning bidder by Sir George Martin
  • Tickets for a summer of festival-going

Brand New Heavies

While the historic setting and fantastic exhibition captivated our guests imagination there was also entertainment by special guests
The Brand New Heavies and 10cc.

DJ Spoony made sure there was no lull in the proceedings playing uplifting tracks whilst guests browsed for their favourite items.
