Sales on eBay make cash for Cancer Research UK

Martin Smith, who collects donations for Cancer Research UK shops in the Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire area, had some welcome surprises recently when he sold items he’d been given on eBay.

He received a canoe and two tinplate toys as donations for Cancer Research UK shops, and decided to see if he could make money by offering them to bidders on the auction website eBay.

He put the canoe on the site first and watched with delight as it sold within four hours.

“After a bit of research on the internet, I started the bidding at £30 with a Buy It Now option of £100. It sold within four hours of being listed and all the money went into Oakham shop!”

After the success, Martin put two tinplate toys that had been donated at the Cancer Research UK Spalding shop up for auction. He listed the toys on eBay and was amazed when they sold for £209, raising cash to fund Cancer Research UK’s essential work.
